Richard Moult, formerly of Far Black Furlong, has a new CD out on Evening Of Light. Described as ‘A beautiful piece of abstract and mystical music for solo piano’, it comes in hand-made packaging and is limted to 100 copies. It is priced at the not-unreasonable €8.50.
Evening Of Light is better known as a webzine – and they always give Far Black Furlong good reviews – and now they have launched their own label, Mr. Moult’s CD being the first release.
I’m currently trying to sort out a page for Far Black Furlong on Facebook, it’s not as easy as it should be – I can’t upload music to the music player unless I provide photo ID, and guess who is a passport-less non-driver, eh?.
Also, had idea for artwork possibility… the top one is a bit monochrome, but it’s nice and clean. The squiggle is now less obvious (I’m tempted to get rid altogether, not sure whether the guys would go for that, or even if it is a good idea, so the top one is squiggle-less)
Evening of Light have just reviewed ‘Caerbre‘ – and give it 8½ out of 10, saying lots of nice things, such as:
another brilliant recording by these until now severly overlooked British masters of ambient, acoustic and classical sounds
Read the whole review here, and maybe buy the CD from Reverb worship after hearing it on the player below (or at music.farblackfurlong.com). Please note that the Digital release of ‘Caerbre‘ will be in September, not before!
I was messing about in my graphics program, and came up with this as a sort of ‘re-boot’ of the Far Black Furlong ‘brand’. The squiggle is still present, just not quite a prominent. Also, I’ve made recent covers rather dark and moody, it might be nice to go for something… lighter.
52:29:48N 3:00:03W – probably the name of the new album, and we have a track listing too:
1 Lost Stars
2 Cold Hill Veils
3 Hollow Ash
4 The buzzard dreams in the lungs of the tree
5 Med Blodet Sig Alla Bestänkes
6 Another Sun Of Forgetting
7 Noctilucent Clouds
Don’t hold your breath for the release – it won’t be for a while yet (although it will be out this year).
The Far Black Furlong contributions to the compilation Reynardine: The Visits Of Mr. Fox (out on Larkfall in 2007) can now be listened to at Last.FM and our Music Page or on the player below – care now, it’s a bit strange and maybe you will be scared…!
The album can be ordered from Larkfall.co.uk , where you can find the full tracklisting also.
These tracks were recorded at the same time as the sessions for The East Room, with the same musicans.
It looks as if Far Black Furlong does have a future – we are almost certainly recording sometime in the summer. Can’t say with any more accuracy than that. Personnel Ian, Andy, Mark, Anne Marie, possibly others. This too is subject to change. I’m being rather vague today, eh?
