Going to re-do the blog graphics, maybe even re-code Myspace look. That’ll be the afternoon taken care of, then

Last.FM plays

The number of plays on Last.FM is still rising, which is nice! Hello to all our new listeners!

Twitter, now featuring Far Black Furlong

October 5, 2009

twitter_screen Far Black Furlong are now on Twitter, for people who really need to know what FBF are up to right now.

I will probably use this to tell you about new blog posts, new things going on on our various websites, and random FBF-related thoughts I might have from time to time.

Possibly there might even be competitions, although since I don’t expect to have more than about 3 followers at any time, I will have to make the questions really difficult.

What to do with ‘Caerbre’

October 5, 2009

It’s gone 6 months since the release of our ‘Caerbre‘ EP (buy it from Reverb Worship now), so maybe we should think of releasing the digital version.

There’s good chance the digital version will be different – I had to trim a couple of minutes to be sure of it fitting on the 3″ CD-r format (some can only fit 18 minutes, some go up to 22), so I could un-edit the tracks.

There is also the matter of what to do with some of the ’spare’ tracks: I made a quite nice 14 minute EP, except the 1st track (of 2 tracks) is a version of the opening track of our us-yet-unreleased new album.

Maybe this EP would be better released after the album, or even given away for nothing (after the album).

Lacus Somniorum

September 20, 2009

Just to show how much I have been concentrating, it seems Amanda Votta – flautist on our Far Black Furlong album – has started new band and put out an album without me even knowing.

The duo (of A. Votta and G. Hildebrand) call themselves Lacus Somniorum which is latin for Lake of Dreams, a feature of the surface of the moon.

The music is incredibly dark and atmospheric, not like much of our music except for the last track on Far Black Furlong (which – of course- features many heavily treated flute tracks played by Amanda, along with my synths), but a lot darker. Their Last.fm page describes it as: …Airy flutes and choirs hover above sometimes distant, rumbling sound textures, hinting of corroded machinery and unseen presences…

There is a link on the myspace page to purchase the CD, or you can download it from iTunes, Amazon and Emusic. Strangely, someone is selling their copy of the CD on Amazon for £30. As far as I know the CD is still available for $14, so something strange is going on there somewhere.

New Album – Status Report!

September 9, 2009

The new album (named ‘52:29:48N 3:00:03W’, 8 tracks, 40 minutes long, work of genius) is finished, and now we are actively looking for a home for it. If we could get it out into the world early next year, that would be great. Not that I’m holding my breath.

In fact, if we can’t find a nice home for by then, I am releasing it myself  (on Box of Woks) and with hand-made sleeves too! I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that, it’ll be a lot of work.

People say nice things (part 2)

A nice comment about our music from Stereofame user Moorelandy ((((**()**)))) :

“A real-life teleporter to other times and lands.”

See, someone likes us!

August 28, 2009

If you still don’t have the limited edition ‘Far Black Furlong’ CD with the bonus limited edition ‘Haidd 2′ CD – if you don’t I hope you have a damned good reason – you can listen to a slightly shorter version* on the player above. If you want to.

*Original track is 34 minuntes, this is 7 minutes

New FBF film

August 28, 2009

FBF_promo_2

A new Far Black Furlong film – longer than the other one, and better.

Still pretty abstract, but I couldn’t afford the supermodels and helicopters to do it the way I wanted…
